Hands-on learning opportunities are our
specialty.
As a student at the School of Public Service (SPS),
you9ll be guided towards onding what you9re
passionate about and applying those passions within
your classes and out in the real world. Our professors
and staf members are dedicated to creating hands-on
learning experiences, ofering research opportunities,
and helping you become an active member of broader
communities at Boise State and beyond.
Our Programs
You9ll ond several program areas to study at SPS,
including Criminal Justice, Political Science,
Environmental Studies, Urban Studies and
Community Development, Global Studies, Military
Science, Conflict Management, Pre-Law, and Public
Service Leadership. Plus, ond the learning model
that works for you- we ofer classes on campus and
remotely. All our degree programs involve hands-on
learning opportunities like internships, study abroad,
service-learning, community engagement, or
research alongside professors. Our students have
the opportunity to participate in oeld schools, where
they apply classroom learning to real world issues and
work to solve those issues with classmates. The School
of Public Service also ofers the unique opportunity
to live, intern and study in Washington, D.C. for a
semester through our Capital Connection program.
Each of our hands-on learning opportunities are
designed to help you forge your own academic and
professional pathways.
SPS in the Community
School of Public Service graduates become law
enforcement professionals, lawyers, environmental
conservationists, researchers, professors, and global
and local community leaders. Through their classes
and extracurriculars, students engage in the greater
community by tackling local challenges, networking
with alumni and serving alongside leaders.
